Delayed gratification

I think what I like the most about film photography is the associated delay in gratification, which is pretty hard to come by in this digital age. Going to the photo store, dropping off the film, picking it up, and hardly making it out the door before I tear the envelope open makes it all the more enjoyable.

Here are a few 120mm shots from the last few months, taken with my Holga (aka my hipster camera) and photographed with my DSLR because I don't have access to a scanner. So meta.

  3. I completely agree. And when you can take as many photos as you want with a digital camera, there's not as much focus on skill or precision.

My dad's a photographer, and when I was growing up, there'd be days when one of our bathrooms would be in "darkroom mode." I miss seeing photos stewing in the tub!

  6. I so very much agree - this photos are great!! I also love getting photos developed and into my photo album. Part of me loves them more than storing 'em all on my iPhoto!

  7. Nice photos. I didn't read what you wrote about waiting for car loads of your cousins, etc because I'm tired from writing so much these days. However, if I had that driveway of your childhood, I would have spent hours everyday staring down it, just because it's beautiful.
